Early this morning my grandmother passed from this world to the next. It was difficult to watch her struggle between our world and eternity, but I know that she longed to go.
My grandmother taught me about selflessness and sacrifice. We had an unconventional relationship, because I cared for her physical needs more than she cared for mine. However, I am thankful for each moment that I was able to spend with her and I am thankful that I shunned my understanding of grandparents to care for and love on my grandmother. I will miss her dearly, but I am at peace knowing that she is with the Father after years of longing for his rest.
"In peace and joy I now depart according to God's will; my heart and mind are comforted, calm, and still; as God has promised me, death has become my sleep."
~ Martin Luther

I just read this and it made me cry. I'm thankful that you had such special time with her before her death. I'm thankful for all the time we had with her. I miss her, too.
